As the 21st century goes toward information-oriented society, information is the power. People want and need more information, so they try to get it with fast and easy way. The fast and easy way to get the information that people prefer these days is the Internet. As we know, Internet has lots of information and we can get the information that we want comfortably. But that way of getting information can be dangerous. I mean it is dangerous when people believe and use it without sorting process. So I want to show what will happen to us when we use the information without checking the accuracy.

 

When we search the information from the internet, the confusing information is hiding. If you use it without any doubt, the problem will happen. For example, let's assume that you use the confusing information to your presentation. People who listen your presentation will also become to believe your wrong information because they think you did the enough research and told the information to them. And the idea will become generalized among people until the conscious one appear. To prevent this case we need to raise the critical attitude toward the information from the Internet.

People already know that the information do the important role in 21st century. And they already know the Internet doesn't tell the truth every time. But they usually do not sort the information from it because it is annoying to research the truth of the information one by one. There is the research that people prefer to use the Internet to get the information then use the other way. And there is also the research about there are much wrong information on the Internet that is supporting we should not always believe it. We can prevent the generalization of confusing information through my argument. By preventing it, we can be more powerful in information-oriented society because we will have the exact information.

People who can write on the Internet can give the information to  us. They can post the writing as they like. It means that writing is not written by experts and it might be not based on the truth. Though the writing doesn't have any scientific evidence, we may become believe it if we accept them uncritically. That is true that we are living in  the information-oriented society and the getting the information is important. So people want to get the information more faster than other people. But the speed of getting it is not crucial. If  the information is wrong, it becomes useless though you get it first. If you use the confusing information without any doubt and copy it to your blog or SNS, many other people see them and also believe them. Then it will become the general information. And then it will mess up the world someday. It means confusing information has great potential of corrupt the world because our society  put emphasis on information. 

We can find the dangerousness of confusing information through 'The Harvard Sampler'. In this book a example of confusing scientific evidence is explained. People do not exactly know about whether margarine or butter is worse for our health. It's because that many each report was different. The researchers reported the experiment which was conducted in different condition. This reports made the differential misclassification. And people are going to get this information without any doubt because it seemed reliable because the researchers tested it. Like this, we should be careful when we get the information.

Of course we can get the information from the Internet very easily. But I want to say that ease is not safe. Most of the people like the simple and easy thing but we should be careful. The things that we get easily, there may be a problem. They can lie to us or we may provide the reward for the ease. Also, it is true that we can get the information from the internet very fast. It is good to get the new information fast. But it becomes a matter when the information is the wrong information. The exact and fast information is needed, not just the fast information.

 

  We can not ignore the power of information. And I respect the way of using the Internet to get the information. But I want to say that do not always believe the information from the Internet. There are lots of hidden confusing information which is written by a person who does not have enough knowledge about it. If the wrong information spread through it is hard to correct and it will be able to get the negative power. And I also understand the mind that people want to get the information more faster. But I just want that people realize the fast information is not important. This society wants exact information than fast information. To sum up, we should not always believe the information that is wandering about the Internet. It is better to raise the critical attitude toward it.
